Our Psychotherapy Practice
The Cavendish Psychotherapy Practice is based in central London, on Harley Street, at the centre of London’s district for medical excellence. The psychotherapy and counselling practice is based at 121 Harley Street and shares its home with Doctorcall, a GP service.
Rebecca Barrie, Rebecca Eyre and Jessica Sinclair are the founding psychotherapist practitioners at the Cavendish Psychotherapy Practice and have many years experience as psychotherapists, working with people struggling with emotional and psychological difficulties.
At The Cavendish Psychotherapy Practice, the psychotherapists/counsellors practice psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive analytic psychotherapy, focused, short term therapy, stress counselling and couples therapy. Together with the client, the therapists build a therapy that is best suited to the individual’s needs.
How to Choose the Right Therapy Counselling for You?
Before therapy begins, you will have an introductory meeting with your counsellor therapist. During this session, you will be able to speak to her about the issues that have brought you into therapy. Together, you and she will discuss your needs and the kind of therapy that will be best suited to you. If, at the end of this session you want to go ahead, you will be able to book an appointment, usually for the following week.
Psychodynamic Psychotherapy
Psychodynamic Psychotherapy is a mode of therapy that builds an understanding of present behaviours and feelings, by looking at earlier life experiences and relationships. Psychodynamic psychotherapy is analytical and is a long- term therapy, which can transform the way life is lead.
Cognitive Analytic Psychotherapy
CAT helps the individual discover how behaviours and coping mechanisms devised in early life may no longer be effective. CAT looks at how these coping mechanisms originated, how they are habitually repeated and how they can be adapted to bring about change.
Focused, Short Term Therapy
Focused therapy works on a specific issue that is currently affecting the individual. Short-term therapy can work very well for mild depression, anxiety, or a specific relationship or work related issue. A Cavendish therapist will work with the individual for a minimum of six weeks.
Stress Counselling
The Cavendish Psychotherapy Practice offers a six week course of stress counselling. This has been designed to help those who are undergoing an acutely difficult period of stress. This peak of stress could be caused by a wide variety of life events; pressure at work, the loss of a loved one, a crisis in a relationship or a sudden sense of fear and anxiety.
Clients are seen once a week and the stress counselling is focused on the presenting difficulty which is explored and analysed in the session. This focused work gives clients clarity and relief and enables them to move forward and to progress in their lives.
Couples Counselling
A Cavendish therapist will work with the couple to look at the difficulties that have arisen within the relationship and at the causes that prevent the relationship growing healthily. Identifying the roots of the difficulties that the couple is experiencing can help bring clarity and a greater understanding of how the relationship works. This clarity and understanding can help facilitate positive change.
